Jon Walker Editorial

About image
I am an experienced editor and researcher, with a meticulous approach and an eye for detail.

I usually charge by the hour, and my rates are fair and competitive.

When I am not editing, I write books: my novel, The Angels of L19, was published by Weatherglass Books in 2021. My personal blog is www.jonathanwalkersblog.co.uk.

My qualifications:
Undergraduate MA in History (University of Glasgow)
PhD in History (University of Cambridge)
MFA in Creative Writing (University of Glasgow)
PhD in Creative Writing (University of Kent)

I have worked with Jon on several [writing] projects, and he is now the first person I call when I have something I need looked at. His understanding of the fundamentals of grammar and storytelling is excellent, and I cannot fault his professionalism or service. The aspect of our working relationship that I enjoy the most is the way that Jon takes you with him, explaining not only what should be changed, but why; he hasn't just made my writing better, he's made me a better writer.

Jon provided brilliantly precise proofreading and deeply wise editing advice. His experience of scholarly research and creative practice make him an ideal editor of both. A rare skill set and attentive service.

I hired Jon for my Alice Paul in Glasgow project knowing he was clearly a highly trained historian and gifted researcher and author. He soon became a trusted collaborator — discovering historical gold and gems I might never have found. We’ve been connecting almost exclusively by email and very occasionally by phone for months now, and have yet to meet in person. A long-distance collaboration between Jon in Glasgow and me in Mexico and Philadelphia could easily have failed, but thanks to Jon’s astute listening, brilliance, and dogged detective work, our work together is yielding big returns. I recommend Jon without reservation.
